Geoff Thompson, Principal

Geoff Thompson has over twenty years of experience architecting and developing software solutions, ranging from mission-critical mainframe brokerage applications to pharmaceutical sales force automation (SFA) solutions that integrate the best of client-server, Internet and handheld technologies.

Geoff founded Avaion in 2001 out of the desire to provide user-focused software solutions that are as easy to use as they are powerful. FatFinger®, the first Avaion title, won praise from customers and critics alike, and was a top-selling title in its category on the Handango and Palm websites in 2002 and 2003.

Prior to starting Avaion, Geoff was Director of eBusiness for Visalign, where he led the application development practice in Manhattan, focusing on the financial and pharmaceutical industries. In 1998, Geoff toured nationally with Microsoft, demonstrating a sales force automation application his team developed for a pharmaceutical client, one of the first vertical applications then deployed on the Windows CE platform.

Geoff began his career at Piper Jaffray in 1984, where he trained in both the operational and technology groups before working in a variety of positions, from Programmer to Business Analyst to AVP and Assistant Manager of IT. His early training in operations was instrumental in helping Geoff develop the skills to more effectively bridge the gap between business and technology - a skill he still leverages today.

Geoff graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics.
